The book
What the studies actually say about natural oral care — every review on this site, in one book.
Natural oral care is full of confident claims and thin citations. The Evidence Handbook goes claim by claim — hydroxyapatite, oil pulling, xylitol, charcoal, remineralization — and reports what the published trials actually found, what they didn't, and how to tell the difference on a product label.
It's written for the same reader as this site: someone who wants the honest answer, not the marketing one. Every chapter ends with the studies it's built on, so you can check the work — the same rule every review on this site follows.
From chapter one · The line that decides everything
A cavity does not start as a hole. It starts as a chalky white patch — enamel that has lost mineral but still has its surface intact. At that early stage the process can slow, stop, or partly reverse, because enamel can take minerals back up from saliva.
Once the surface breaks and a hole forms, it cannot grow back. Every honest claim about "healing" teeth lives on one side of that line, and every dishonest one pretends the line isn't there. This book is largely about learning to see it.
